Young Adult Ministry
Young Adult Gatherings
We are a growing church family with an increasing number of young adults every year. In the fall, come and join us for our young adult cook-out to kick off the new church year. We enjoy a night of food and fellowship together as we catch up from the summer months.
Join us again in January, as we ring in the New Year together. Each year, the party is hosted at a different church members home. We enjoy a night of dessert and a fun gift exchange activity.
Outreach and Community Service
Outreach and community service projects take place at various times througout the year. Young adults have participated with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Saratoga Famiy Inn (Homes for the Homeless), and Adventures in Learning.
Youth Ministry
YOUTH MINISTRY
(PILGRIM FELLOWSHIP)
PF SUNDAY SCHOOL
The PF (Pilgrim Fellowship) group at UCC Manhasset is comprised of students grades 6th-12th. We have a diverse and dynamic group of youth that meet on Sunday mornings for a time of Bible Study and discussion.
During the worship service, the youth are dismissed around 10:15 to their Sunday school class. Our average attendance is between 20 and 30, which creates an intimate setting, yet large enough for a varying opinions and perspectives.
During Sunday school, we aim to relate everyday life experiences to our faith journey. Through the stories found in scripture, we find God and sense God's presence in our lives and our world. Our group encourages self-expression, creative dialogue, and opportunities for friendship. Come and join our community of students as we seek to love God and one another.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
Once a month our students are involved in various community mission and/or service projects. Our service opportunities include working with low income families, homeless children, soup kitchens, food pantries and other community outreach organizations. All are welcome as we seek to better our world and our communities through God's love.
MISSION TRIPS
Once a year our PF group ventures to the far reaches of the US on our annual Mission Trip. Mission trips have included locations such as Knoxville, TN, Boston, MA, Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA and Hartford, CT. For one week, we partner with non-profit organizations, service projects and community outreach opportunities in various locations.
Our mission experiences include; hurricane relief, food pantries, soup kitchens, senior citizen homes, low income families, community centers, rural back yard Bible clubs, and homeless shelters. Mission trips encourage students to live out their faith in action through service.
PF WEEKLY ACTIVITIES
With students always on the go, our PF group gathers at least once a week for a time of fun and fellowship. Weekly events help to build community, foster healthy friendships and to allow time together as a group.
Activities might include ice skating, gym night, trips to NYC, movie nights, game nights, scavenger hunts, nights out to dinner, trips to Jones Beach, picnics, day hikes, and much, much more. In addition, monthly newsletters go out to our students reminding them of upcoming events and activities.
Our PF blog is also updated on a weekly basis indicating upcoming information. Check out our blog at www.ccmyouthelement.blogspot.com. If you are interested in participating in any of our activities or being involved in our Sunday morning Sunday school, please contact Lori Burgess at: loricburgess_yahoo.com or at (516) 627-4911 x 106. Everyone is welcome!
CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Our confirmation program, which students usually enter in the 8th grade, helps students to place together the story of faith. During confirmation, we journey through the Bible and the historical components of faith for a better understanding of the Christian faith.
Confirmation seeks to nurture and educate a young person in the Christian faith so that she or he might confess faith in and commitment to following God's way as revealed in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. For those who were baptized as children, Confirmation fulfills parental vows taken on their behalf. For those not baptized, Confirmation offers the opportunity to confess personal faith in Christ and undergo Baptism before Confirmation Sunday.
Children's Ministry
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Every Sunday at 10AM, our children come to morning worship in the sanctuary with their families. The children are dismissed around 10:15 to go to their Sunday School Assembly time. In their assembly, the children pray together and practice music which they sing in worship on our monthly Family Sundays.
Following Assembly, the children go to their Sunday School classes; (Pre-K/Kindergarten, 1st-2nd Grade, 3rd-4th Grade, and 5th Grade). Class time centers around a specific Bible story and craft activity.
FAMILY SUNDAYS
In addition to beginning worship each week with the whole church family, we have monthly Family Sundays. On these Sundays, the children sing in worship and will experience a special childrens sermon before heading to their Sunday School classes.
HELPING HANDS
Once a month, the children participate in a Helping Hands Project where they have an opportunity to reach out to others in our church, our community
and around the world. In addition, the children give an offering every week that goes to sponsor a child in a developing country via Children International.
Past Helping Hands Projects include:

Adventures in Learning
ADVENTURES IN LEARNING
Adventures in Learning is an after-school tutorial program for local at-risk children. In December, our Sunday School children decorated stockings for
each child. The Adventures children received their stockings filled with gifts purchased by our church at their annual Christmas Party. Each year our
church provides $20,000 for this ministry.
ANGEL TREE
The Angel Tree is our annual ministry at Christmas time where we take requests from area ministries and agencies. The requests are placed on a Christmas tree in our chapel foyer. Church members take therequests and purchase the necessary items to help people in our area. When a request is
taken from the tree, an angel is put in its place. The children make these angels in Sunday School.
A large number of toys, books, clothing, tools, stamps, art supplies and cookware were given in Christ's name. It isa wonderful way to celebrate Christmas!
SPECIAL EVENTS
Throughout the year, we provide special events in which the children will participate. Activities include a Christmas Eve Pageant, a week of Vacation Bible School, Christmas Caroling, Holiday Parties, and our all-church picnic each spring.
NURSERY FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS
During Sunday morning worship, we provide paid caregivers for your infant or toddler. The nursery is located in room 204.
The Congregational
Nursery School
Established in 1958, the Day Nursery School of the Congregational Church of Manhasset is under the guidance of the Nursery School Director and the Board. The school serves both church members and non-church member families in Manhasset and many neighboring communities. Day Nursery School is non-denominational, accepting children of all religions, races and cultures. The philosophy of the school is to teach each child a love of self, a love for others and a love for learning.
Teachers are certified and regularly participate in programs that enhance their professional development. As individuals, our teachers are warm, friendly, skilled professionals. The combination of the cheerful school environment and the guiding hands of the teachers has created a unique educational program that celebrates the wonder of children and encourages their individual growth.
