YOUTH CAR WASH FUNDRAISER
Saturday, October 4
9 AM - 2 PM

​

Our youth will host their annual fall youth car wash on Saturday, October 4th in the church parking lot from 9 AM – 2 PM. All proceeds from the car wash will go to help support the Interfaith Nutrition Network. Many of our neighbors on Long Island struggle with food insecurity each day. The INN works to assist those who need some extra help and support. Please come and support our youth. Let Rev. Burgess know if your teen or older elementary child can help for the day. There is no charge for a wash and donations of any size are appreciated.

CHANCEL CHOIR FALL
FUNDRAISING CONCERT
“Here’s to Life! Here’s to Love!”

The Chancel Choir and Soloists will perform a concert of popular and musical theatre songs.

Here’s a sample of what you will hear:
The Supremes’ “You Can’t Hurry Love;”
Elvis Presley’s, “Can’t Help Falling In Love;”
and Frankie Lymon’s, “Why Do Fools Fall In Love?”

The suggested donation for our musical fundraiser is $20.

YOUTH TRIP TO SCHMITTS FAMILY FARM

Youth and Families are invited to join us for a fun afternoon at Schmitt’s Family Farm in Melville. We will meet at the entrance at 1PM, which is located at 26 Pinelawn Road in Melville. The cost is $23 per person and includes a 7-acre corn maze, hayride, mini golf, mechanical pig races, mega slide and more. If your youth would like to go, but they need a ride, let Rev. Burgess know. Tickets can only be purchased at the door. Let Rev. Burgessi know if your youth or family would like to join us by Thursday, Oct. 9th. This event is for all ages!

WOMEN AT THE WELL

We will discover the beauty we see through the lives of pets. We’ll watch the documentary “Pets” over two Sundays, with each session around 35 minutes. “Pets” is a documentary feature film that explores the extraordinary relationships that exist between animals and their people, all around the world. All women are welcome.

YOUTH HOMEWORK HELP AT ADVENTURES IN LEARNING
Wednesday, October 15
3:30 - 5:30 PM

On Wednesday, October 15th, any youth, grades 6-12 are welcome to join us for an afternoon of tutoring at AIL. We’ll head over around 3:30. The day typically ends around 5:30. Let Rev. Burgess know if your youth would like to join us as we get to know our neighbors and help some kids with homework.

CHURCH FAMILY POTLUCK & INTERGENERATIONAL TRIVIA NIGHT

On Friday, October 17th, join us at 6PM for a potluck dinner and intergenerational trivia! Think you know a little bit about everything? Or maybe you just like laughing, learning, and being with your church family! Come test your knowledge and join the fun at our Intergenerational Trivia Night! We’ll have questions for every age group that spans the last 7 decades of pop culture, history, music, and more. Teams will be mixed across generations, so bring your brainpower, your sense of humor, and a dish to share. There will be prizes for the winning team and bragging rights for everyone! This event is for kids, teens, parents, grandparents—and everyone in between! Let Rev. Burgess or Rev. Only know if you plan to attend by October 15 and what dish you would like to bring.

WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY

On Sunday, October 19, we will celebrate World Communion Sunday with Christians around the globe. Anyone who wishes can bake or buy a loaf of their favorite bread to share during Fellowship Time. Please leave your loaf in the downstairs kitchen prior to worship.

YOUTH & FAMILY GAME NIGHT

Our next youth and families game night will be on Friday, October 24th from 6pm – 8pm in the Parish Hall. Families should bring a dessert to share and we’ll provide a pizza supper. We’ll enjoy lots of fun games for all ages. Bring your good attitude, excitement and ideas as we enjoy some friendly competition together. Let Rev. Burgess know by October 23rd if your youth or family is able to join us.

October 26 is Family Sunday! We need youth to help serve as ushers and greeters as well as a volunteer to read scripture for the morning. Please let Rev. Burgess know if your youth would like to help us out for the morning.

UNICEF COLLECTION

During coffee hour on October 26th, our children will be taking up a special collection for UNICEF to help kids around the world. Look for their orange boxes (or QR code) and support their efforts to bring food, clean water, and hope to children in need. Together, we can make a big difference—one small gift at a time!

TEEN MENTAL HEALTH SEMINAR WITH DR. THERESA TAYLOR WILLIAMS

Join us at 11:15 AM in the North Lounge for a special workshop for parents entitled “Thriving Through the Teen Years.” Dr. Williams will touch on various topics, including the importance of mental health and wellbeing for our teens, among many others. Dr. Taylor, a longtime church member, is a Board-Certified Psychotherapist and Education Advocate. She is the CEO of TTW Associates, Inc. Join us for a meaningful hour together as we help our teens thrive.
