WOMEN AT THE WELL

SUNDAY, MARCH 1 & MARCH 22 - 11:30 PM

IN THE NORTH LOUNGE

In honor of Black History month (one month late due to winter weather) we will watch the 2016 film, Queen of Katwe.  Based on a true story, Queen of Katwe depicts the life of Phiona Mutesi and her family. Her world changes one day when she meets Robert Katende, a missionary who teaches children how to play chess. Phiona becomes fascinated with the game and soon becomes a top player under Katende's guidance. Her success in local competitions and tournaments opens the door to a bright future and a golden chance to escape from a life of poverty. We will watch the film over the two days, followed by discussion and reflection.
